Hudson Saint Patrick’s Day Parade 2026: Everything You Need to Know

Text Link

The Hudson Saint Patrick’s Day Parade rolls down Main Street on Saturday, March 21 at 1:00 pm, bringing colour, music, and Irish spirit to the heart of the village.

Now in its 15th edition, the parade has grown into the second largest St. Patrick’s parade contingent in Canada — and this year’s goal is bold: to become the most talked-about Irish parade in the country.

With over 100 parade entries, marching bands, local merchants, Shriners, community groups, and special guests, this is one of Hudson’s biggest and most joyful events of the year.

The parade is organized by the Soulanges Irish Society, a not-for-profit community organization founded in 2019. Their work extends far beyond the parade — The SIS is dedicated to celebrating Irish heritage in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region while supporting local charities and community organizations.

Hudson’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is more than an event — it’s a village tradition that brings thousands together in a shared celebration of heritage, generosity, and community spirit.

Wear green. Bring your friends. Support local businesses. And be part of one of Canada’s most spirited Irish celebrations.

Where & When

Date: Saturday, March 21, 2026
Time: 1:00 pm
Location: Main Street, Hudson

Arrive early to secure a good viewing spot — especially near the village core.

Part of the Hudson Celtic Festival

The parade is the centrepiece of the week-long Hudson Celtic Festival, running March 14–21, 2026.

Throughout the week, local restaurants and venues host live music, Irish fare, and festive gatherings leading up to parade day.

2026 Parade Highlights

  • Chief Reviewing Officer: Rigaud Mayor Charles Meunier
  • Grand Marshal: Derek Seguin
  • Irishman of the Year: Geoff Kelley
  • Over 100 entries
  • Marching bands and community performers
  • Local merchants and organizations

Expect music, pageantry, family-friendly energy, and a sea of green along Main Street.

A Parade with Heart

When you attend the parade, you’re supporting something much bigger than a celebration. Each year, the Soulanges Irish Society raises funds to support:

  • The Hudson Legion (on behalf of the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve Marching Band)
  • Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence
  • Lester B. Pearson Educational Foundation
  • Local food banks including Le Café de la Débrouille (Rigaud) and Dorion Dream Center
  • A scholastic bursary for a John Abbott Police Technology student in honour of Doug Hurley

This year, SIS is also fundraising toward the cost of a Neonatal Care Unit for the new Soulanges Hospital, reinforcing its commitment to community well-being.

Things to Do in Hudson This Winter

Text Link

Winter in Hudson has a quieter rhythm — and that’s part of its charm.

From January through March, the village settles into a season of crisp air, snowy walks, cozy meals, and community events that invite you to slow down and enjoy winter rather than rush through it. Whether you’re a local rediscovering familiar paths or planning a day trip from Montreal, Hudson offers plenty of simple pleasures during the colder months.

Here’s how to make the most of a winter visit.

Get Outside: Winter Walks, Skiing & Fresh Air

Hudson’s natural spaces are especially peaceful in winter, when the landscape feels calm and uncluttered.

One of the prettiest winter walks is the Sandy Beach Trail, which runs between the Stephen F. Shaar Community Centre and Jack Layton Park. With forest scenery and glimpses of the water, it’s an easy, scenic stroll that’s beautiful after a fresh snowfall. Furry friends are welcome too — just be sure to keep dogs on leash on local trails.

For cross-country skiing, residents often head to the trail network connecting the Whitlock and Falcon golf courses with the Clarke–Sydenham Nature Reserve, adjacent to Le Nichoir, a wild bird rehabilitation centre. Ski tracks are maintained along this connector trail, while other nearby paths are also popular for self-set tracks, depending on weather conditions.
(For more detailed trail information, see our full nature trails guide.)

Families will also find classic winter fun around town:

  • Tobogganing at the groomed sledding hill in Thompson Park, or informally at Whitlock Golf Course
  • Outdoor skating at St. Thomas Park, which features both a hockey rink and a skating oval when weather allows
(Ice conditions depend on sustained cold — daytime temperatures below −5°C and nighttime temperatures below −10°C.)

Warm Up Indoors: Food, Drinks & Fireside Stops

After time outdoors, Hudson’s restaurants, cafés, and pubs offer plenty of welcoming places to warm up.

Visitors can enjoy relaxed meals and drinks at local favourites such as Embers Hudson, Botte, Main Kitchen, Microbrasserie Cardinal, Taverna Raw Bar et Plancha, the Chateau du Lac, and Alibi Lounge.

Winter is also a great season to enjoy live performances. You’ll find English-language theatre, concerts, and special events at Hudson Village Theatre, along with live music and community gatherings at Hudson Creative Hub throughout the colder months.

Browse & Discover: Winter Shopping in Hudson

Many of Hudson’s boutiques stay open year-round, and winter is an ideal time to browse at a slower pace.

You’ll find:

Hours can vary in winter, especially in January, so checking ahead is recommended.

Seasonal Events: What’s Coming Up

  • Shiverfest — Saturday, February 21, 2026
A family-friendly winter celebration focused on outdoor fun, cozy moments, and enjoying the season together.
  • Valentine’s Day in Hudson
Ideal for relaxed dinners, thoughtful gifts, or a cozy winter date.
  • St. Patrick’s Day Parade — March
One of Hudson’s most spirited traditions, bringing music, colour, and community energy to Main Road.

Quick Winter Planning Tips

  • Check hours in advance: Some businesses adjust seasonal hours or take short winter breaks.
  • Dress for the weather: Outdoor activities depend on sustained cold and snowfall.
  • Mix outdoor and indoor stops: Pair winter walks with cafés, restaurants, or shops to warm up along the way.
  • Watch conditions: Outdoor skating, skiing and the Oka–Hudson ice bridge are weather-dependent.
  • Embrace the pace: Winter visits are about slowing down, exploring at leisure, and enjoying Hudson’s quieter side.

Find your perfect gift at the Hudson Holiday Market

Text Link

The 2025 Hudson Holiday Market is on at the Alibi Barn (422 Rue Main) in Hudson on November 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30 and December 5, 6 and 7. Visiting the market is like stepping into a scene lifted straight from a storybook. Twinkling lights dance overhead, the scent of mulled cider hangs in the air, and soft carols guide you from one charming stall to the next. Every corner of the Hudson Holiday Market glows with warmth — a European-inspired Christmas village right in the heart of our town.

Founded by sisters Katrina and Jacobe Legault, the market began with a heartfelt idea: to create a beautiful space where local artisans — many without brick-and-mortar shops — could share their work with the community during the most magical time of the year. What started as a small gesture of support has grown into a beloved annual tradition celebrating creativity, connection, and the spirit of the season.

More than a market, the Hudson Holiday Market is a curated experience designed to delight all the senses. Picture charming vendor stalls filled with hand-crafted treasures, seasonal food and drink to warm your hands and heart, visits from Santa Claus and the local fire department, live music drifting through the crisp air, whimsical face painting, festive photo sessions, and enchanting details waiting to be discovered around every corner. Every element — from the styling of each booth to the gentle glow of the lights — is thoughtfully crafted to create a setting that feels as magical (and photo-worthy) as it is memorable.

At its heart, this market is a celebration of community. Each year, space is dedicated to charitable initiatives, with a special ongoing partnership with NOVA, an extraordinary organization providing compassionate in-home care through dedicated nurses. Supporting this cause has become a meaningful cornerstone of the event.

Whether you’re searching for the perfect handcrafted gift, sipping something warm, or simply wandering through the glow and bustle, the Hudson Holiday Market invites you to slow down, savour the moment, and experience the joy of the season in a truly enchanting way.

Discover Hudson’s Nature Trails

Text Link

If you’re searching for a peaceful outdoor escape just west of Montréal, Hudson’s beautiful nature trails offer beauty in every season.

Here, forested corridors, rivers and wetlands, lakeside parks, and well-maintained trails weave together to create an outdoor experience that feels both intimate and expansive. The town’s longstanding commitment to green space and connected nature corridors makes it a perfect destination for hiking, dog-walking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.

In winter, Hudson maintains over 23.6 km of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing. Dogs on leash are welcome everywhere, so feel free to bring your four-legged companion along for the adventure.

The following Hudson nature trails are well-marked and provide an excellent opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area.

1. The Clarke Sydenham Nature Conservancy Trail (3km)

Adjacent to le Nichoir Wild Bird Conservation Centre, the Whitlock and Falcon golf courses, the Clarke Sydenham Nature Reserve trail network offers some of the best wildlife viewing in the region. It’s especially appealing to bird-watchers—Le Nichoir is the largest dedicated songbird rehabilitation centre in Canada, and many successfully rehabilitated birds are released right here into the reserve’s protected habitats.

The reserve features a mosaic of old forests, temporary ponds, wetlands, and open fields. This diversity supports a remarkable range of species, including southern flying squirrels, multiple bat species, and chimney swifts. In winter, the town grooms cross-country ski tracks through parts of the network, with a packed path available for snowshoeing or winter hiking. The groomed ski trail system extends the winter network to more than 20 km.

Trailheads

  • Le Nichoir (637 Main Road) — don’t miss their Boutique du Nichoir, which offers bird feeders, bird-safe window products, books, games, and nature-themed gifts. Proceeds support bird care and environmental education.
  • Whitlock Golf & Country Club (Côte St-Charles)
  • Rue Brisbane

2. Sandy Beach Trail

Accessible via Jack Layton Park or the Hudson Community Centre, the Sandy Beach trail leads you through a mix of wooded paths, wetlands, creeks, and river views. Wooden bridges, side trails, and scenic outlooks make this one of Hudson’s most varied and beloved natural areas.

More than a picturesque waterfront, this landscape is a rare and ecologically significant refuge. Together with adjacent Jack Layton Park, the area encompasses 57 acres of sandy cove, estuary, beaver pond, forest, and wetland habitat connected by trails and boardwalks.

A 2024 biodiversity study documented 343 species, including 29 at-risk species, within the Sandy Beach ecosystem. The woodlands and wetlands form a crucial natural corridor linking the Ottawa River to the broader Viviry River watershed. From frogs, foxes, and beavers to egrets, eagles and monarch butterflies, this area supports a rich web of life uncommon in developed regions.

3. The Dwyer Trail (1.8 km)

A quieter option, the Dwyer Trail winds through mixed woodland and gentle slopes, offering a slightly more rugged experience. Access points include:

  • Côte St-Charles, between Forestview and Windcrest
  • Windcrest, between St-Charles and Carmel
  • Rue Wellesley, between Cameron and Evergreen

This is an excellent choice if you prefer a less-trafficked trail with a more “off-the-beaten-path” feel.

5. Taylor Bradbury Trail (1.5 km)

A short and friendly route ideal for a quick nature break. The trail can be accessed from:

  • Rue Cameron, across from Pine Lake
  • Behind Mount Pleasant Elementary School
  • Woodcroft
  • Olympic, just after Thorncrest

It’s an easy, family-friendly walk that connects well to neighbouring green spaces.

6. Davidson Trail (1km)

Accessible via Como Gardens near Rue Mountain View, the Davidson Trail is a peaceful, lesser-known option perfect for those seeking quiet and solitude. It’s short, gentle, and wonderfully calming — a great spot for a mid-day reset or a relaxed dog walk.

6. The Gary Cirko Trail (2.5 km)

Set within the Alstonvale neighbourhood, the Gary Cirko Trail is a scenic loop through mature forest and neighbourhood greenspace. It’s accessible from Rue Vipond, Rue Mayfair, and Rue Cambridge in Hudson Acres, beside Alstonvale Park.

With flat terrain and wide paths, it’s ideal for casual strolls, family walks, or a quick outing with your dog. Its easy access from multiple streets makes it one of Hudson’s most convenient trails.

Plan Your Visit

Whether you’re exploring the forest canopy on a crisp fall day, skiing along freshly groomed tracks, or wandering beside wetlands alive with spring birdsong, Hudson’s trail network offers something in every season.

A few quick tips:

  • Dogs on leash are welcome on all trails
  • Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are popular throughout the winter
  • Le Nichoir’s gift shop is always worth a stop, especially if you enjoy bird-friendly products or unique nature-themed gifts

Hudson’s trails are one of the region’s greatest treasures — a place where locals and visitors alike can connect with nature, breathe deeply, and enjoy the beauty of this remarkable corner of Québec.

Live music in Hudson all year long: 5 venues to explore

Text Link

If you’re looking for places where live music thrives in Hudson, Quebec, you’re in luck. From bar-buzz Friday nights to intimate listening venues in historic buildings, Hudson offers something for every kind of music lover. Here are five favourite spots worth knowing — and exploring again and again.

1. Microbrasserie Cardinal (466 Rue Main)

If you want a reliably lively weekend, Microbrasserie Cardinal is a go-to, with live music every Friday and Saturday night all year round. But that’s not all: on Thursdays you’ll find acoustic jams and open-mic nights, which are perfect if you either want to play (bring your guitar!) or simply have a pint and listen. On the first Sunday of each month, the venue also hosts an “all-originals” open mic for songwriters — a great way to hear local talent. And don’t miss their jazz nights on the first and third Sundays, offering a more dedicated listening-mood experience.

2. Château du Lac (460 Rue Main)

A place steeped in local heritage and entertainment: the historic building is said to date from circa 1870, and the Château du Lac has been operating since 1898, making it one of Canada’s oldest bars. Over the years, it has remained central to Hudson’s nightlife and live music scene.

3. Kingfisher Pub

If you’re looking for a full meal to go with your music, Kingfisher Pub is a good bet. They often book bands and host karaoke nights as well!

4. The Hudson Village Theatre

The Hudson Village Theatre offers a more refined live music experience. It operates inside the former Hudson train station, which was built in 1890. The community rallied to purchase and transform the station into a theatre in the year 2000. With 148 seats, the venue offers an intimate setting where the sound and performance take centre stage. For those seeking live music that leans towards listening rather than just backdrop-atmosphere, this theatre is a gem.

5. The Hudson Creative Hub

Another high-quality listening venue: the Hudson Creative Hub. The former St. Mary’s Church Hall was transformed into a not-for-profit arts-centre in 2023, and now hosts concerts, exhibits and community events.
