Hudson Film Festival Returns April 20–26, 2026

Film fans, mark your calendars! From April 20–26, the Hudson Film Festival transforms the Hudson Village Theatre into a week-long celebration of cinema — with award-winning films, special guests, and a program designed to surprise, challenge, and inspire.

Presented by the Hudson Film Society, the festival builds on a long-standing tradition of bringing high-quality cinema to the region, with programming that reflects both global storytelling and local perspectives.

A Week of Film, Stories, and Special Guests

This year’s program offers something for every kind of filmgoer — whether you’re drawn to intimate dramas, compelling documentaries, or standout short films.

Highlights include:

  • Maelstrom, directed by Denis Villeneuve, with special guest producer Roger Frappier
  • A lineup of Oscar-nominated and award-winning short films, including Jazz Infernal and The Girl Who Cries Pearls
  • First Nations Day (April 21), featuring powerful storytelling from Indigenous filmmakers
  • Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery, a documentary exploring the iconic music movement
  • A mix of acclaimed Canadian films and international selections throughout the week

Several screenings include special guests — directors, producers, and artists — offering audiences a chance to go deeper into the work.

It’s part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Film Circuit — a national program that brings acclaimed films to communities across Canada.

Plan Your Visit

Whether you come for a single screening or spend the day exploring the full lineup, the Hudson Film Festival is a chance to experience something a little different — thoughtful films, engaging conversations, and a shared audience experience.

Pair a screening with dinner in the village, or make a day of it and catch multiple films back-to-back.
